"THE GENERAL"
DEFENSEMAN PRIMARY ERA: TRAP ERA
GM: 1374 G: 329 A: 659 PTS: 988
Leadership personified. That’s what players said when asked to describe Mark Thueter. He did whatever was necessary to win the game. His career in New Jersey spanned over 1,000 games and include 3 Bauer Trophies and 1 Victors Cup. When traded at the trade deadline during his last year in New Jersey he was said to be finally too old to patrol the blue line. Thueter proved everyone wrong and one of the greatest leaders the game has ever seen moved on to win Cups in Kansas City and Toronto and play a key role as a mid to bottom tier defender. He is one of only a handful of players to win 3 Cups with 3 different teams. He played with an edge that represented the Butterfly Era. Tough, physical, willing to fight, score a goal, or make a play, Thueter was one of the greatest defenseman in league history.
