Nicknamed the Warrior, Bob Matthwes battled his way into the Hall of Heroes. Matthews was not a highly regarded prospect when he joined the San Francisco Saints for training camp as an undrafted free-agent from Canadian Minor Premier in the fall of 1986 but he soon worked his way to the starter's cage with a dogged work ethic and a never-say-die attitude. Matthwes found his form that spring and backstopped the Saints to the Cup title. He would spend 10 more seasons in San Francisco before a trade to Orlando in 1996. In Orlando he found the fountain of youth behind a defensive oriented team and made two more Finals appearances and won another Cup. All told, Matthwes won 484 games and played 901 games with 2 franchises.
