"STAY at HOME JOHNNY"
DEFENSEMAN PRIMARY ERA: FOUNDING
GM: 1120 G: 115 A: 129 PTS: 244
John St. Louis was a beloved member of the Montreal Express early dynasty years. In a career that spanned over 1,000 games during the 50's and 60's St. Louis was the premier defenseman in the league. This was an era in which defenseman where widely expected to defend at all times and generate little offense other than clearing the pucks to waiting wingers on the boards. St. Louis' point totals reflect that defensive philosophy but it didn't make him any less dominant as a force in the MLH. HIs leadership and toughness was that of myth as he was a feared body-checker and would drop the gloves with any willing opponent. He is one of only a handful of defenseman to win the Diamond Trophy as the league's most valuable player further showing his value in the original 10 team league. St. Louis went on to have a successful post-playing career as an executive with Montreal and Quebec City.
