"THE MONTREAL MAGICIAN"
CENTER PRIMARY ERA: FOUNDING
GM: 787 G: 534 A: 656 PTS: 1190
He was as smooth as he was powerful, like a steaming locomotive. Soulard was the first player to notch 40, 50, and 60 goals in a season. He scored the most goals ever by a rookie at 58 ( later eclipsed by Marc Pattie's 63),. He retired as the all-time leader in points and goals. Soulard was hockey's first offensive dynamo mixing speed, skill, and brute force into a thrilling package. The Montreal-Toronto battles are now infamous and his rivalry with the older Jack Cash is legendary. His brilliant play launched Montreal to 7 Cups in his career. Injuries and military service cost him multiple seasons but he played every minute of his career in Montreal sweater and he accumulated an astounding 1190 points in just 787 games. The Montreal Magician was truly magic.
